Meet the YNPN Boston Leadership Team

Ashley Gordon, Director of Ambassador Talent and Recruitment

Members of the YNPN Boston Leadership Team play a vital role in helping to develop a stronger, higher impact nonprofit community in the Boston area. Being a part of the Leadership Team also provides members with unique opportunities to grow their personal and professional networks while increasing their technical and leadership skills in a supportive and collaborative environment.

As we recruit new members for the Leadership Team, we are excited to introduce you to some of our current members who are sharing what being a part of the YNPN community means to them. Ashley Gordon is the director of ambassador talent and recruitment for YNPN Boston and works as an operations manager at Summer Search. Below, Ashley tells us more about her involvement with YNPN Boston.

What made you decide to join YNPN?

I joined YNPN because I wanted to gain skills that I wasn’t gaining in my day-to-day role including people management and project management skills. As a nonprofit professional, I also wanted to gain experience being a board member and governing a nonprofit organization.

What do you like most about being a Leadership Team member?

What I like most about being a Leadership Team member is being able to work as a team to achieve our goals. On the Talent & Recruitment team, ambassadors and board members complete work based on our strengths and areas of growth. We all work together and provide feedback to each other to produce high quality work and events. I enjoy seeing a project go from the planning phase to completed, knowing that it was a team effort and we all supported each other throughout its completion.

How has serving as a Leadership Team member helped to advance your professional goals?

When I started YNPN in the summer, I was a program associate. I’ve since been promoted to a manager role at my organization, and I feel that the managerial experience and project management skills I’ve built as a member of the YNPN Board made me a strong candidate for this role.

Is there anything else you’d like to share about your experience as a Leadership Team member?

I debated joining YNPN for a while, unsure if I was qualified or if it was something I could commit to. When I came to the virtual open house, I was able to better understand what the organization was looking for and found comfort knowing that you don’t have to be an expert in any of these fields to join as a board member or ambassador. It’s an opportunity to gain experience! If you are on the fence or debating, be sure to attend the open house on Tuesday, March 16th!
