In the working world, public speaking is a vital skill to have and to hone. Is one of your goals to become more comfortable and confident with public speaking? We can help! Join YNPN Boston and Massmouth for Tell Your Story! Storytelling for Public Speaking on Wednesday, June 28!

This event is our quarterly professional development event, focusing on developing skill and comfort with public speaking, using storytelling form. We will be partnering with Massmouth, a Boston-based nonprofit that promotes the art of storytelling. This training will include:

  • Participating in interactive exercises on what makes for a good story;
  • Discussing ways to use storytelling in the nonprofit world, whether through marketing, fundraising, or at an interview;
  • Telling your story live in front of the group–we’ll draw names at random to give 4-5 people this opportunity.

Learn from Moth GrandSlam Champion, Katie Liesener: Katie has told stories in over 80 shows across eight states. She is a Moth GrandSlam champion, the 2016 Massmouth “Big Mouth Off” champion (Boston’s storytelling finals championship), and was a featured “Exchange Place” teller at the 2016 National Storytelling Festival. She currently serves as Co-Coordinator of Massmouth, and teaches storytelling privately. As a journalist, Katie has written for the New York Times, Boston Globe, Conde Nast Traveler, and various other newspapers, magazines, and websites. Samples of Katie’s work (in all its forms) can be found on her website, www.katieliesener.com.

This event is held in partnership with Massmouth. Pre-registration is strongly recommended. Nearest MBTA subway stops: Downtown Crossing on the Red and Orange Line, Park Street on the Green Line, State Street on the Blue Line.
