Hostelling International, 19 Stuart Street, Boston

The YNPN Boston Nerding Out to Get Ahead events bring together Boston’s emerging social change leaders to discuss challenges and opportunities for young professionals and the sector. In each session, participants engage with thought-provoking media ranging from books and articles to videos and TED talks followed by in-depth discussion in small groups. You’ll leave with fresh thoughts, new connections, inspiration, and tangible action steps for your work and community. This is not your mother’s book club!

Join us on July 8 for Changing the Way We Think About Changing the World:

Could it be that everything we’ve been taught about charity, giving, and change is backwards? Should nonprofits act more like businesses? This is the premise of Dan Pallotta’s TED Talk, where he questions whether our opinions on how nonprofits ‘should’ act reinforce unnecessary barriers that reduce the reach and impact of the nonprofit sector. Join us as we discuss Pallotta’s theories– and some alternative perspectives– on nonprofit operations and effectiveness.
